Post-and-Lintel: This is the earliest type of man-made openings, such as a door and a window. The "post" is the vertical piece. The "lintel" is the horizonal piece that connests to the upper end of the two posts.

Question: Close your eyes. How many post-and-lintel constructions does your house have? Your school?
