Penn State, like any other large organization, has lots of paperwork & procedures that keep it running. You can make your own life easier by learning about the paperwork & making sure it gets done correctly & on time! See your advisor for help.

What is a degree audit?

Degree audits are documents that contain a tremendous amount of information. Be sure that you can read yours! See your advisor for help interpreting the report. You should check that your degree audit reflects accurately what you have done at Penn State and use your degree audit to plan your schedule of classes for each semester.You can obtain your most current degree audit by visiting eLion.

How do I register for classes?

• Class schedules for the upcoming semester are available about halfway through the current semester. Class schedules are available online.
• Plan your schedule, using your current degree audit. It is your responsibility to check that you meet all the prerequisites and corequisites for courses you intend to take.
• Visit your advisor & check over the schedule you've planned.
• Consult the registration schedule to determine the earliest day that you can register.
• Complete the registration process. Note: your semester bill must be processed at the Finance Office before your registration is finalized.
• In person -- Bring your completed form to the Records Office (first floor of Conklin Hall).
• On the web -- Follow the instructions at eLion.

How can I find out my final grades?

• By phone -- Semester grades are available toll free, by calling (800) 876-0354, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, beginning the Monday following final exams.
• In writing -- Grades from the previous semester will appear as part of your degree audit and your transcript, available on eLion. Grades from the semester you just completed will appear under the "grades" entry in eLion. It may take several days after the end of a semester for all the grades and a GPA to appear.
